Tarot Cards
The idea of wanting or needing to know the future is part of the human experience. Tarot cards have had a place in human society for a long time, at least five hundred years and probably a lot longer than that. Their beginning is obscure and unknown. We all want to know what is coming, how to prepare or how to prevent the inevitable. The Tarot cards represent the obstacles and growths that each person must endure along the path of life. Reaching the end of a cycle is not the end but a return to the beginning, to be repeated with new obstacles and new challenges. Tarot decks are normally divided into two sections, the major arcana and the minor arcana. The major arcana represent stages and major influences on each stage of your journey. The minor arcana represent the separate facets of each stage. They are aids to understanding what is occurring or why something has occurred.

The eighth card in the Major arcana is "The Chariot". The Chariot is an indicator of an up-coming struggle. This is something that can not be avoided. However, whether or not this struggle is with yourself or others depends on the circumstances around you. This is a struggle with the competitive nature of people, their drives and their aggressions. The secret to winning in this struggle is to face this confrontation with strength and containment of emotion and aggression. The lesson in this is harmony and the ability to handle your own contradictions when out in the world. In short, this a major growth, becoming an adult on this current journey. Also, in some cases this card can be an indicator of travel or news from abroad. If the card is reversed, it can be an warning as to the cost of overwhelming ambition and a scattering of your energies.

The ninth card in the Major arcana is "Justice". Justice indicates the need for balanced thinking and decision making. You must realize however; that any decision is a double-edged sword. Any decisions that you reach by having a black and white out-look can be just as devastating as making a decision while being uninformed. This is a development card, in that you must try to become what the card represents. Use this card as a reminder not to look at situations in terms of black and white or right and wrong, for there are many shades of grey.

Please note: Not all Tarot decks have a "Justice" card.

Azurite is a stone that can help you to identify the inner resources at your disposal as it has the effect of being able to clear the mind and allowing you to properly think through any situation. Auras and Chakras
Chakras

Everyone has 7 chakras or energy centres in their bodies. You may have heard talk of other chakras opening, those are the spiritual chakras and not the ones we will be talking about. Chakras represent the energy zones in the body and they can be used to indicate imbalances in how the body is functioning.

The Base Chakra or Root Chakra is red. It is located at the base of the spine. This Chakra governs lower body and the reproductive organs. .

The Sacrel Chakra or Belly Chakra is orange. It is located just below the navel. This Chakra governs the kidneys, adrenal glands and bowels.

The Solar Plexus Chakra is yellow. It is located just above the navel. This Chakra governs the stomach and solar plexus. .

The Heart Chakra is green and is the colour of healing. This Chakra governs the heart and is located at the heart. Also pink can be associated with this chakra, especially the pink of rose quartz.

The Throat Chakra is blue. It is located at the base of the throat. It governs speech and the ability to speak your truth.

The Brow Chakra is indigo. It is located between the eyes and it is the same position as depicted for the "Third Eye". Therefore it governs intuition and psychic ability.

The Crown Chakra is violet. It governs the thought processes, knowledge and spirituality.

There is one other major chakra but it is located outside of the body. It is often referred to as the "Trans-personal Chakra". The colour of this chakra is clear or pure white. It governs our connection with divine love, divine faith and divine freedom. The whole of what is divine radiates from this chakra into the body for health and love.

Hints to ease your path into meditation

Meditation can be done in more than one way. We've talked about sitting quietly and going within to learn about yourself but there are other forms of meditation. If you have difficultly entering into a meditative state by sitting quietly, there are many guided meditation tapes and CD that can be quite helpful. I have found that CDs containing quiet, gentle music can help with entering into a meditation state. Guided meditations give you the opportunity to follow the directions of a gentle, quiet voice, this is especially helpful if you find it difficult to enter into a meditation. The gentle flow of music or the sounds of nature can help transport you to a place of peace and calm and in turn will free your mind to follow a path of self knowledge.

Unfortunately sitting quietly is not for everyone. It is possible to lose yourself in physical activity. T'ai Chi, Yoga and even dancing can have the same benefits as meditation. It is difficult to meditate during the learning of any new skill, however once you have mastered the moves it becomes very easy to lose yourself in the movements. You become attuned to your body and the feel of the body's movement takes over all other senses. I have been belly dancing for a little over a year and a half and there have been many times when I've had to come back to myself to remember where I am. The feel of movement in your own body can be a true awakening to your senses. It is not the exhilaration of competition, for these activities can be done alone. It is the knowledge that is gained about your own body, how it feels, how it moves and it's abilities. Most of all, it is the connection of mind and body that is most beneficial.

Meditation Thought for the Month

"I will be calmly active, actively calm. I will not become lazy and mentally ossified. Nor will I be overactive, able to earn money but unable to enjoy life. I will meditate regularly to maintain true balance."
