A DEEPER UNDERSTANDING

A New Awareness

As with any journey of discovery, there comes a time when you must leave the comfort of what you know as a light-hearted view of life to explore the true nature of your reality. With this in mind comes the realization that this newsletter must now begin to evolve to present more in-depth information so that you can further your own journey of discovery and kindle within the curiosity to explore your own spiritual truths and path.

Perception

Is your cup half full or is it half empty? Is the world against you or are you riding high? Are you being used or is it just part of a job? Are you using or wasting? Are you suffering at the will of others or are you suffering by your own hand?

You could take either answer and it depends solely on how you perceive your life at any given time. Perception can give you the power to sink slowly into self-pity or you can use it to change your life. Which you choose will colour every decision you make regarding that situation and the number of choices available to you.

If someone chooses to believe their situation is hopeless or stagnant we find that they always choose to describe their life in terms of not being in control; such as "being used", "being taken for granted", "being taken advantage of" and so on: anything to prove the negative side of the situation. The problem with the continued use of describing your life in these terms is that it can become a self-fulfilling prophesy of how your life is going to continue.

How you view your life and the events that happen dictate how much effect they will have and how much control and power you are willing to give to something/someone else. The associated emotions can be overwhelming and leave you with a sense of dispare and or fear. Then once we feel things are going our way we begin to look for the fall; that thing, thought or action that will bring everything crashing down to earth around our ears. We fear to believe that things are actually starting to go our way. All the while others may be looking at you and saying what a wonderful life you have.

It can sometimes be hard to distinguish where the line is drawn between the two extremes of life. We want good in our lives but we fear to lose the hurt we choose to own. What we view as a disaster others may not see as that big a deal and in the same breath wonder why you aren't coming to pieces as you let some situations slide. Perception colours not only your point of view but also how others view your world.

For example:

When you see people being promoted before you when they've haven't done the work or they've lied, cheated or maybe they've even stolen; it can be hard to believe you'll get ahead. What we have to remember is even though their lives look better and richer doesn't necessarily make it so. It's our perception of what we think they have that plays with our thought process. It makes us jealous and bitter about what we don't have.

Television, radio ads and the internet don't help us with this concept. Our sense of perspective gets warped by all of the must have, need to have and how did we ever live without that gets bombarded at us day and night. All they tell us what we "should have" or "need to have" to be happy and look at all these "beautiful people" and how wonderful their lives are for having all this stuff. What they don't show is the hurt and devastation within their own lives. We may see their fall and their dirty laundry being aired on the nightly news and some may even say "it's about time" but the reality is the pain they suffer is no different than what we suffer. By gloating we are no better for we have found solace in someone else's misery.

As humans we have to understand that suffering is suffering no matter the cause, no matter the circumstances and we don't have the right to be smug as we watch those we consider powerful have their lives destroyed.

It is in the end only our perception that we have control over and once we gain control over it we can change our lives to reflect that which we hold dear. As we gain control our sense of perspective life itself begins to stabilize and that is when we can find peace and comfort within our lives as they are.

I bid you all a summer of light, and clear sense of perception for your life journey.

CRYSTALS

Ruby

Who can mistake the lovely red fire of a Ruby. It's image is clear in our thoughts as it has been a primary stone of intrigue, wonder, invulnerability and lust. Set apart in the world as a gem for royalty and passion. Ruby most commonly is red however it can be found in shades ranging from pink to lavender. Most Rubies come to us from the United States, India and from Sri Lanka. There is much lore attributed to Ruby most of it to do with love and protection. Rubies are the second hardest gem stone after diamonds.

As a stone of passion the Ruby's red colour is synonymous with the heart and the circulatory system. As a healing gem Rubies benefit the heart by strengthening the body circulatory system and has been used to lower blood pressure. Rubies are also said to help the immune system and is beneficial in warding off infections. During the plague, individuals would watch the colour of the stone .... if the colour became dark or cloud the wearer would leave the area believing that the infection was coming. However if the colour lightened the wearer could safely return home. Soldiers believed Rubies could protect them from harm on the battle field. Rubies and Ruby chips would be imbedded into or just under the skin to act as shield against blows from arrows, spears, swords and even guns. Wealthy people kept Rubies as protection from loss of income and as safeguard against loss of home, valuables and other prized possessions.

In healing Rubies must be used with caution. While very beneficial, Rubies also have the tendency to amplify energy, both positive and negative. It is important to remember this when healing in order to assist those being healed to work through the negativity and anger so that they do not get caught up in the emotional turmoil that can ensue. Rubies can help you to accept what is positive in your life and release that which does not serve you any purpose. Rubies themselves should not be worn over the solar plexus as the rush of energies can sometimes be disruptive to the liver, stomach and diaphragm. Rubies held and moved over the root chakra or genital area can help to promote sensual and sexual energies and raise the level of passion about both projects and people. Ideally though Rubies should be worn as rings, anklets or as a brooch on the left side of the body.

If you use or wear your Ruby frequently, it should be discharged and cleansed in warm running water twice a month and allowed to dry in sunlight for a few hours.

A BLESSING for LAMMAS

The celebration of Lammas or the mid-point of summer, August 1st, brings forth a sense of bounty and symbolizes the success of the harvest that is beginning. The bounty it brings is both physical/material and metaphorical. It is a time to be open to what is truly here for us and not what our fears and nay-sayers would have us believe. It is a time of revelry and joy as we share in all that life has to offer.

"Universal Light, Christ Consciousness, be with us now,

Aid us in ridding our lives of the fear of loss and the fear of lack,

We know our lives and our souls to be bountiful by nature and ask for help in releasing untruths,

that hold us captive to the whims of others.

Help us to know the bounty within so that we may manifest it into our waking world,

so all may know the splendor of our Light and share in limitless bounty. "

Blessed be.

MONTHLY MEDITATION

"Healing Light of God "

"They perfect light is omnipresent in all my body parts. Wherever that healing light is manifest, there is perfection. I am well, for perfection is in me.

They healing light has been shining within me, around me, but I kept the eyes of my inner perception closed and beheld not They transmuting light.

I will plunge the gaze of my faith through the window of the spiritual eye and baptize my body in the healing light of Christ Consciousness.

Heavenly Father, teach me to remember Thee in poverty or prosperity, in sickness or health, in ignorance or wisdom. Teach me to open my closed eyes of unbelief and behold Thine instantaneously healing light. "
